Getting started
Approach this virtual interview as if it were in person by preparing in advance and dressing professionally. Find a quiet place to avoid background noise and potential distractions during the conversation. Remember, presentation is key, position yourself directly in front of the camera against a plain background and be mindful of not sitting directly in front or behind a light source.
Technical tips
- Web browser: The platform supports Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, and the latest version of Microsoft Edge.
- Device updates: Please make sure your device is updated to the latest version by checking the technical specifications on the next page.
- Microphone and camera setup: Check that your microphone, headset, and camera are properly connected and permissions are granted. Addressing this beforehand is crucial to avoid any disruptions during the session.
- Background applications: Close any background applications, such as Skype, Zoom, or MS Teams, that might be utilising your camera and microphone to enhance the video interview.
- Internet connection: The platform requires a good internet connection. Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi signal, and if not, try switching to 4G.
If you’re using a desktop or laptop please ensure:
- You access the link through Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge.
- All other apps that could be trying to access your camera or mic are closed.
- You have a working camera and mic – you can do a test on Google to check both of these. Just type in ‘free mic test’ and ‘webcam test’.
If you’re using an iPhone please ensure:
- It’s updated to the latest version of IOS.
- You access the link by copying and pasting it into the search bar in Safari.
- All other apps are closed.
- You’re not on the phone with your recruiter when setting up the session.
- If you have weak Wi-Fi it may be worth switching to 4G.
If you’re using an Android or any other phone, please ensure:
