This well known national company is looking to recruit a Control Room Assistant Manager to join their Rochdale team working on the night shift. About the role:

Working in a busy distribution centre you will be managing a team of Control Room Technicians and acting as the main Control Room contact for the on-shift management team. Duties will include:

Overseeing and managing a small team to ensure the flow of stock items around an automated conveyor belt system

Monitoring the flow of stock items around the automated conveyor belt system in the distribution centre

Highlighting issues and directing suitable staff and maintenance teams to deal with issues and ensure stock flows freely

Providing advice and guidance to the operational management team to maximise the efficiency of the operation

Identifying opportunities and initiatives for continuous improvements in ways of working, quality, consistency, and effectiveness

Developing staff in various areas via PDPs, reviews, appraisals and regular conversations to drive performance

Carrying out performance and absence management processes to ensure underperformance of individuals and teams is managed

Identifying appropriate reward and recognition opportunities to drive engagement within own team

Liaising with management on the day shift to ensure hand over


Essential Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar management or supervisory role in a control room role or logistics role within a warehouse, distribution or production site. A background in an IT helpdesk based in a logistics, warehouse or distribution organisation would also be considered.  You will have strong general IT skills with the ability to become an expert in new system. Experience of an ERP system is essential.  Experience of manipulating data in Excel would be beneficial. You must be willing to commit to working a regular night shift.
