Why I chose a career in Recruitment – By Connor Wilson (Candidate Consultant at our Bolton branch)
When I finished university, I had no idea what I wanted to do for my career. A friend of mine recommended getting into recruitment, so I began to do some research. Initially, the earning potential got me interested, being in charge of my own earnings through my hard work was something that motivated me. However, after my initial research I began to learn that recruitment is so much more than just a well-paying career, it is a chance to work with businesses that have great causes and share the same values as I do.
I have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of my candidates
It is a chance to work with the decision-makers of those businesses and be responsible for providing great solutions to their problems, an opportunity to build a lasting and trusting relationship. But the biggest reason why I enjoy getting out of my bed every morning is because I have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of my candidates.
Being able to present them with an opportunity to interview for a job that can completely change their lives, or just get them started, and then coach them on how to impress in the interview, all in the hope that my candidate will be able to accept a job offer for their dream role. Recruitment attracted me because I learnt that the work I do has a lasting effect on the lives of others.
